About Me

My name is Tom, I am an electronics hobbyist amongst other things.

When I was much younger I had an interest in electronics, but I lived on a farm that was a couple of hours drive from the nearest "big city", and did not have ready access to components, let alone datasheets and other technical materials needed to really understand things properly. So as a hobby it was mostly consumed by tearing old appliances to bits, and was later replaced by interests in computer programming, and more recently IP networks which is usually my day job.

Nowadays, Internet access is practically ubiquitous in large parts of the world making it incredibly easy to find technical information, and there are suppliers abound offering next day or very rapid delivery for almost any component you could ever need. Computer based design tools are bountiful too, so as a hobby it is something I find much more achievable.

This has resulted in my interest in electronics picking up again, and through this blog I will talk about noteworthy (in my own definition) projects that I work on.

The name and logo of the blog comes from the first project that I decided to blog about, a NOR logic based clock. Its likely that most of my projects will be digital in nature, certainly it is much easier for me to understand these concepts - 1's and 0's! Analogue is a rather voodoo subject for me at this point in time, but we'll see where things end up.

I am certainly no expert, so I welcome feedback, suggestions, and corrections!
